Arts group to host oil painting workshopArts group to host oil painting workshopThe Neosho Arts Council will host a two-day “En Plein Air” oil painting workshop for area artists conducted by noted Missouri artist, Billyo O’Donnell.Slated for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 6 and 7,Lace front wigs, it will be held on location in Neosho. “En Plein Air” means the painting is done on location out-of-doors. It is open to artists of all skill levels and will help develop the foundation of the Oil Painting, techniques to bring it to life, and color theory. O’Donnell will work with each artist at their own level as well as demonstrations for the group.John Mills, arts council president, said that a similar seminar held earlier in Boonesville, Mo., filled up before it was publicly announced, but that room was still available for interested artists.“We are so excited to host Billyo here for this seminar,” said Mills. “He criss-crossed Missouri for seven years painting each of Oil Painting Missouri’s 114 counties.”Those works have been published in his book, authored by Karen Glines, “Painting Missouri” which received the prestigious Governors Book Award in 2009.In addition, Billyo has not only conducted workshops the U.S., but Europe as well.The cost for the two-day seminar is $150 For more information, contact Mills at Oil Painting In conjunction with the workshop, the arts council will host a free public lecture and book-signing by O’Donnell at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Lampo Building.Related topics articles:
